Kida, the representative, will answer this one. May I ask you a question as well? Why is it that women don’t understand when we want to believe it’s not just about the money? Is it pride?

I’m Saito, a columnist and active male member♪ (Wow, this answer section is really lively♪) The problem is that you can’t keep a man interested by simply saying, “I’m doing this for the money.” That’s why you put on an act. The truth is, you don’t have the communication skills.

This is Joe, the columnist. Leaf-san has already given an exemplary answer, but I’d like to respond from a man’s perspective. Rather than saying “I don’t understand,” I feel “I don’t want to understand” is closer to the truth—at least for me. Being seen as nothing more than an “automated ATM” is a real turnoff. At the same time, I love women who are pursuing their dreams, and when I meet someone like that, my already-loose wallet gets even looser. I imagine there are quite a few male members who feel the same way. That said, in Joe’s case, while my wallet may be loose, there’s not actually much inside it (laughs). Also, this isn’t limited to Universe, but dating clubs are highly individual, so I suspect there are quite a few exceptions. As for me, there’s one woman who says, “I don’t need an allowance. I just want us to enjoy spending time together.” That doesn’t mean we’re in a serious relationship—we both maintain a certain transactional distance in our own ways. Now that I think about it, even though she doesn’t receive an allowance, I cover all the costs of our dates, and we hardly ever have an intimate relationship, so I suppose I’m basically a respectable meal-ticket guy (does anyone still use that term?). Wait… is that what I am to you, Sayaka (pseudonym)?! Sorry for the long post. I sincerely apologize for using part of my answer as an excuse to shout out a personal message.
