I’m posting a question in an anonymous question box for the first time.

I’m Joe, a column writer. Please forgive the length of this question. There seems to be some confusion over whether questions are being displayed or hidden. I imagine Tajima-san, who oversees this question box, will have some kind of reaction, but before that happens, please allow Joe to raise an issue. Joe believes the following may be causing this confusion. Issues with questioners 1. Quite a few posts aren’t actually questions at all, but simply slander the person answering them. 2. Many posts are barely in question form, yet include one or two unnecessary remarks on top of that. Issues with answerers According to the club’s rules: “Criticize the question itself if necessary, but do not condemn the person who asked it.” This is actually very difficult. As is often the case in settings like this, even a degree of criticism directed at a question can lead to criticism of the questioner’s character. That said, including some self-reflection—and putting myself aside for the moment—I feel that some responses are overly harsh in their wording and lack humor or warmth. Issues with the club Joe had assumed that answerers had the duty, responsibility, and right to decide whether their own answers would be displayed or hidden, but it seems this function is only available to some answerers. Since the club has editing rights and so on, shouldn’t this be standardized so that the club alone decides whether something is displayed? That’s all.
