I’m the person who asked the first question about the “balding barcode” man.

I read another question and answer about baldness. From a woman’s perspective, it really is very unsettling to meet someone without knowing what kind of man has been offered to you. At first, I took the descriptions in men’s profiles at face value—things like “He’s a mild-mannered man” and “He gives off a gentlemanly impression”—and accepted offers based on them. But after receiving several offers, I finally understood what the staff really meant when they strongly emphasized a man’s mild temperament. “He’s a mild-mannered man” can also be interpreted as: “He looks calm at first glance. (He may be bald, overweight, and have bad breath, but with enough effort on your part, you can probably make it work!)” (At least, that’s how it looks from a woman’s perspective.) If they described men’s appearance more honestly, I think women could meet them with a reasonable degree of preparation. But do they avoid making such comments because they anticipate that it would lower the matching rate? Even if a man spends a hefty introduction fee and his valuable time to make an offer, the woman might think, “I met him because his profile said he was mild-mannered, but in person he’s bald and overweight, and I’m just not attracted to him physically, so I probably won’t see him again.” It would be more efficient if we could prevent these meetings from ending as one-time encounters caused by such a large gap between the comments and reality. Though I suppose, from the club’s perspective, their ideal situation is to arrange as many matches as possible and collect lots of introduction fees, so maybe that’s why they don’t write honestly.
