I’m Saito, a columnist♪ My watches range from about ¥300,000 to ¥30 million. I have everything from tourbillons to battery-powered watches, and the brands make no sense either—from Richard Mille to MINASE. They’re all pieces I happened to buy through various connections. The reason is that I basically never wear a watch. I just worry about things like scratching it on the wooden counter at a sushi restaurant… For shoes, I wear Berluti or Testoni. I choose the leather myself, and once I’ve paid for the first pair’s last, the rest cost the same. So I inevitably tend to stick with the same brands. I love having them repaired and taking good care of them for ten years or more. I absolutely adore shoemakers. I rotate through about 20 pairs, so I’d like to say they last a long time… but I end up wearing my favorites most often, so every now and then I have to say goodbye to a pair.

I’m Seattle, a low-tier male member. Watch: One I bought at a home improvement store for around ¥5,000. I only wear it at the movies or on airplanes. Most of the time, I check the time on my phone. Shoes: A pair from a discount shoe store. Probably not even worth mentioning the price... Clothes: I can still wear the suits I bought in my 20s. I may have enough in stock to last me until I die. These days I work from home, so I can get through the whole day in pajamas. As for money, travel is the one thing I spend without limit on. Maybe around ¥10 million a year? It’s a hobby of mine. Though, come to think of it, I probably don’t even spend that much these days.

I’m a BB7 male member. The watch and shoes I wear are hardly any different from what the average salaried office worker would wear—each costs under ¥30,000. Because my profession can give people a negative impression if I wear expensive things, I try to keep a low profile as much as possible. Some women casually check my watch during meals or while I’m taking a shower. I suppose they’re sizing me up.

I’m a Rula member of UC for men and the new salon. The watch I wear most often is a matching one I own with a woman I’m dating, so I’ll keep the brand private to avoid being found out—but it cost just under ¥50,000. My second most-used watch was received through a hometown tax donation program from some prefecture. I suppose you could say it was free. For shoes, I mostly wear brands like Armani and Paul Smith. They’re generally around ¥150,000.

I’m だて◎ゆめ, a male member. As a low-income member of Universe Entertainment Club, I’ll be the first to answer. I don’t currently wear a watch. I don’t need one anymore since I no longer have to pay much attention to the time. As for shoes, the pair I’m currently wearing is my son’s “secondhand shoes” (lol). I think they cost around 2,000–3,000 yen at a flea market…? What I care about is “class.” I wear things that I look at and think, “Yes, that’ll do!” According to my wife, I don’t need to buy any more shoes or clothes—I apparently have enough in stock to last me until I die (tears).
