Five years ago, when I first joined, I was supporting women mainly for adult relationships (intimate). After finding a long-term partner and settling into the arrangement, though, I ended up having adult relationships (intimate) mainly to provide support. I assume this kind of shift is common in long-term arrangements, but do any of the respondents feel the same way?

I’ve been doing this for over five years too, but my sex drive hasn’t declined, so it hasn’t turned into anything like that at all. I do want to value the relationships that last a long time, though… If you and the woman are both happy with that arrangement, I don’t see anything wrong with it. I think there’s room for all kinds of relationship styles. You could keep things mainly supportive with her, and if you want to pursue an adult relationship more actively, you could make offers to other women.

Why not simply ask her whether she’d be okay with dinner only? You could then give her an allowance for dinner only, or decide that she’s declining for her own reasons and give her the same allowance as when there’s an adult relationship, without actually having one. Isn’t that entirely up to the man? If you start feeling interested while you’re having dinner, you could ask her then and there. Though that kind of change of heart might be a nuisance for her. If you do what you agreed to do and pay the corresponding amount, then all you can really say is that you’re pursuing an adult relationship because you genuinely want to. It’s pretty hard to reach the mindset of, “Whether we meet or not, I’ll support her on a monthly basis,” though. lol

I get it. But you’re still going through with it in the end, right? lol The only person who could talk about it in this context and tone is someone who gives an allowance but doesn’t go that far.

It’s perfectly fine to start out that way, and I think starting out on an even footing is fine too. For both men and women, even if that is the main purpose, a relationship is probably healthier when it puts less emphasis on the adult relationship and the allowance.

Is whether it’s “normal” really that important to you? I think “normal” is different for everyone. For example, some people don’t think it’s normal to date a woman while giving her an allowance. Personally, there are times when I meet a woman I’ve only just started seeing even when I’m not particularly in the mood for sex. I do this to give her an allowance and maintain or develop the relationship. By “not particularly in the mood,” I mean situations such as already having plans to meet another woman later that same day or the day before. Once, I somehow scheduled two dates a day for three days in a row, and it left me feeling pretty worn out. Women often go along with their partners out of a sense of obligation, so I’m sure the reverse happens too. There’s even a term for it—“obligation sex”—so I think it’s fairly common.
