It’s been a while since I answered a question. I’m currently 37 and still with SALON. That said, the reality is tough, and I haven’t been very active, which is why I haven’t posted answers recently.
There are plenty of women who look younger than their actual age, and SALON already has many genuinely young members, so why focus so much on age? Perhaps they’re looking for something beyond that.
Still, I don’t think anything will change unless you take the first step, so why not try going to an interview?

It reminds me of when I was a child and asked my mother in the kitchen (I don’t feel like calling it a “kitchen”) if I could sneak a bite. When I reached for it, she said, “Don’t ask about things like that—if you ask, I have no choice but to say no. Just do it without asking.”

The official website does indeed say, “Registration is open to women aged 18–45,” but I suspect that’s not entirely accurate.
A few years ago, there was no age limit mentioned at all, and there was no upper age limit. The age range was added to the official website at some point, but there was never an internal announcement saying that the limit had been changed to 45. As staff member Karasaki has said, it’s fair to say that almost no one actually conducting interviews believes there is a strict age limit.
So why is that misleading information posted? Probably because it becomes extremely difficult to pass the screening from around age 45 onward, meaning most applicants are unlikely to be registered.
Conversely, the women over 45 who are currently registered must have had something that really stood out about them. They actually assess each person’s character and decide whether she is likely to receive offers, so women over 45 can still be registered. In other words, they don’t draw the line based on age alone.
For example, someone who could place highly in a beauty-over-40 contest would probably be registered. They also look at things like mannerisms and other qualities.
In that sense, Universe does seem fairly open-minded, though I also think it’s rather stingy of them not to explain things properly.
So I’d recommend simply applying as usual and going to the interview.
I think it’s better not to ask, “Is it okay even if I’m over 45?”
In this world, asking that may actually make it more likely that they’ll say no.

Being 45 doesn’t mean you can’t register. We also have women aged 50 and over who are registered with us.
Of course, since there is an interview, you may not pass, but please tell our interviewer about the life you’ve led so far and why you decided to try papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan).

Even if you’re over 45, you’ll probably still have a chance of registering. After all, there are quite a few women over 45 listed on the female member pages that men can view.
That said, one phrase caught my attention: “looking young.” Personally, I’m not attracted to a 45-year-old who looks like she’s in her 30s.
Many female members over 40 believe they look younger than other women their age, but they’re probably mistaken. Rather than competing on youth, please win people over with the kind of charm that suits your age.
Of course, photos are important when registering. However, I personally feel that trying too hard to look young can sometimes come across as rather painful.
Be yourself instead of focusing on looking young! And although this may sound contradictory, make sure you visit a hair salon the day before your photo shoot. I believe your hairstyle is important.

Universe has quite a few members aged 45 and over.
Apparently, the main criterion is whether you receive offers, so I think it’s worth going in for an interview.
After that, it’s all up to the interviewer’s personal judgment! (lol)
In my opinion, salons might actually be even stricter…

The staff at each branch are the ones responsible for reviewing and accepting applicants, so rather than asking here, why not contact your local branch or actually visit in person?
The fact that you chose to post here so casually, before making any effort to find the answer yourself, gives me the impression that you’re far from being a mature woman.
For what it’s worth, I registered at 45, met every person who sent me an offer, and eventually left after being fortunate enough to find an exceptional connection in the real world.
When someone says, “I’m usually told I look X years younger,” that’s often based on how they judge themselves in the one moment they stand in front of the mirror, all made up and trying their best. Other people generally don’t see them quite that way.

At around your age, the only answer either men or women can really give is that you look about 15 years younger.
And as you get older, they’ll probably say you look more than 20 years younger.
You may still have over 50 years ahead of you, so you could say your life is only just beginning. I don’t think you need to rely on papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan).

Before asking questions, why not check the application guidelines yourself first?
The fact that you won’t do your own research or even contact the application desk yourself makes me question your professionalism.
Unless you look extraordinarily old, women around forty and older have probably been told “you look younger than your age” so often that it’s practically become a greeting. So saying that you look younger than your age is, in my opinion, basically the same as saying you have nothing else to offer as a selling point. To me, that alone makes you seem like a boring woman.
Are you someone who wants to poke a bear and end up in a “bear-困った” situation? Even so, I doubt anyone would find it entertaining to watch yet another tired replay of a bear attack.
