Rather than asking here, I think this is something you could easily resolve by asking the woman, “I can’t get a hotel reservation—would a love hotel be okay?”
If she’s not comfortable with a love hotel, changing locations might make it possible to get a reservation. Also, if it’s a hotel you use regularly, they may be able to assign you a backup room. And if those are already occupied, they might even contact another hotel for you. Isn’t it possible that you simply don’t use that hotel often enough?
By the way, this is also the time of year when love hotels are often fully booked, so you may end up waiting in the lobby. What I’m more concerned about is whether you’ve ever had to wait there before.
If you’ve become close with the woman, most things probably won’t bother either of you. But if you’ve never used a love hotel before, waiting in a place full of young couples might make you self-conscious about the age difference.

True, hotels are harder to book and more expensive in December!
I often used APA Hotels—or places in that price range—for first dates. I’ve never used a love hotel. Even with women I’m seeing on an ongoing basis, I generally use APA Hotels or similar places. Occasionally, I’ll use the Imperial Hotel or the Ritz, but that’s about it.
I think it really comes down to the values of both people. Unless it’s an obviously shabby, musty hotel, I don’t think “the hotel isn’t high-end” automatically means being disrespectful.
That said, if you’re going to use a luxury hotel, I don’t think you should skimp on the allowance. You should be mindful not to make the woman sigh inwardly, “If you can spend this much on the hotel, you could at least increase my allowance by one...”

For a city hotel in Osaka, I think Sarasa Hotel still has relatively spacious rooms. Even if you book a single, they’ll upgrade you to a double room at no extra charge.
Love hotels are recommended because the bathrooms tend to be bigger, but I’m not a fan of them unless they’re clean—the housekeeping isn’t always thorough.
What I like about them is that I don’t have to hold back my voice.

The best thing to do is ask the woman you’re meeting.
I usually go with city hotels too, but depending on the woman, I sometimes choose a nicer love hotel, such as one from the BaliAn chain.
I’ve never chosen APA Hotel.
That said, hotel reservations—especially for Saturdays—were particularly hard to get in December.
It was due to the nationwide travel discount program, but I expect bookings may become a little easier after the New Year since the discount rate will be lower.

That kind of feeling varies from person to person, so I’d suggest checking how the other person feels about it.

Love hotels aren’t a problem at all.
What matters more is how comfortable you become with each other beforehand—the chemistry, the vibe, and how things progress.
That said, I think everything will go smoothly if you choose a hotel you’re familiar with.

Maybe it’s because it’s December, but hotel prices lately have been incredibly steep.
Love hotels vary widely, so if you go for a higher-end one, the rooms are spacious, and the décor and amenities are fairly luxurious.
I’ve also met women who wouldn’t go to a city hotel because they were worried about noise carrying.
When it comes to hotels, I think it really depends on your preferences. Talk it over together and choose the place where you’ll both feel most comfortable.

I’m fine with a luxurious, clean love hotel, but I think a lot of people would be uncomfortable with it.
Besides APA Hotels, there have been more nice, tidy business hotels lately, but there’s still something about those thin walls…
The worst would be walking around looking for a love hotel only to find that every room is occupied.
