I’m grateful to my papa (a male supporter) and I try to treat him well, but every time he gives me my allowance, he says, “This is money I worked hard to earn.” I always thank him, but hearing it every single time bothers me. What should I do?

You said exactly what I was going to say, Fuu. Wait, Fuu, are you really not supposed to say that? Marika

Lame. You want to say, “I’m also working up a sweat and doing my best to accommodate you sexually,” right? That’s where the allowance should come with a “thank you.” I’d like this to be a relationship where we both appreciate and respect each other. That said, if he’s a generous, good-terms papa (a male supporter) you want to keep seeing, it’s probably best to let it slide. If you’re fine with ending things, then I suppose you could handle it the way Aya and Seattle suggest.

I thought, “What a pathetic man,” but as Aya says, telling him might be one way to help reduce the number of entitled old men. It could also prevent further harm down the line. If he can be set straight, that would be a contribution to society.

They may be the type of person who makes hurtful remarks without meaning any harm. They probably say similarly tactless things not only to you, but also to coworkers and family members. If it were me, I’d put on a serious face and say, “Hey… are you maybe pushing yourself too hard…? If you’re having a hard time, that makes me sad too…” Basically, I’d convey with a sad expression that hearing things like that hurts me too.

Is Papa’s comment just naturally clueless? lol He probably doesn’t mean any harm, but if you really care about him, it might be good to tell him: “I’m grateful to you, and I don’t think you meant anything bad by it, but hearing that would make someone feel awkward.” Then add: “It’s fine when you say it to me, but you might hurt other women if you say it to them.” He’ll probably stop, and I think he’ll appreciate you telling him. He’s probably saying it to other women too. — It’s meii

It’s best to break things off right away. He’s the one who’s grateful enough to give you an allowance—or at least wants to.

If there’s nothing else about him that bothers you, I suppose you could just brush it off and continue seeing him. But someone who says things like that makes me wonder whether he’s doing other things you don’t like as well. None of the girls I see take their allowance as though it’s a given. They all express their gratitude, and I can tell from their everyday attitude, too. I feel just as grateful, if not more so, and allowance is one way I express that. So I increase the allowance for girls who treat me especially well. I honestly can’t understand what the papa in your situation intended by saying that.

Someone once told me, “Must be nice to enjoy yourself and make money at the same time.” It really made me wonder, “What am I supposed to do about that?” Let’s just forget anything that weighs on our hearts right away ♪

Hmm… I’d recommend just taking it as part of who he is and letting it go in one ear and out the other. If it really bothers you that much, ending things is also an option.
