I feel like you may not be understanding the fundamental point.
I suspect that many people in these arrangements either don’t have sex with their wife very often, or don’t have sex with their husband at all.
In that case, I think they would notice once they contracted an STI, so it seems unlikely they would pass it on to their spouse.
I think it’s more common for women to have a serious partner, but that’s precisely why women are asking men to use condoms. I really hope men will be considerate and do so properly.
Even condoms aren’t 100% effective, but they still reduce the risk.
