I’m having trouble figuring out how to maintain a relationship with women. I usually approach women around their late 20s to early 30s who are type B or C, but things never continue. After three to five meetings, they suddenly stop contacting me and no longer reply. I offer a decent allowance, am always considerate, and feel grateful that they spend time with me, so I can’t figure out why. Are there simply not many women who are looking for a long-term arrangement to begin with?

I’m Dai, a male member. Many women around their late 20s to early 30s are looking for long-term relationships. So if a relationship doesn’t continue despite there being nothing wrong, I feel there may be more to it. From your question, I can’t see anything obviously wrong, so forgive me for saying this, but perhaps your self-analysis is a little too lenient. To give some obvious examples, maybe you’re too rough during intimate moments, or there’s an issue with things like bad breath or other odors. Being rude to staff is also one of the behaviors women tend to dislike.

I’m Aya, a female member. I think the reason it doesn’t last is that the allowance is too low for the time she spends with you. I don’t mean to be rude, but do you make an effort to maintain good personal hygiene and appearance? Do you listen to what she has to say? Are you doing anything strange at the hotel? Anything abnormal is completely out of the question. If improving both your appearance and communication skills still doesn’t help, then it may simply come down to the allowance. I think it would be good to try different approaches and see what works.

I’m a male member, “Paper Airplane.” > Are there really so few women looking for long-term relationships? I think almost all of them want something long-term. There are probably very few women who actually want a short-term arrangement. > They stop responding after three to five dates. If you’ve met more than two or three times, it’s not normal for her to suddenly disappear without a word. Once you’ve had an adult relationship (intimate), I assume something happened that made her not want to see you again. If she won’t even contact you, there’s probably a fairly serious issue. The most likely possibilities are that, regardless of whether she enjoyed it, you take a long time to finish, the sex lasts too long, or—if she’s a B type rather than more of a C type—you insist on an adult relationship every time you meet. Bad breath is another possibility. You should probably assume she’s become thoroughly fed up.

I’m Maezawa from the CEO’s Office, and I’ll answer as well. > Are there originally not many women who want a long-term relationship? If anything, I get the impression that there are quite a lot. In fact, I feel women are more likely than men to want a long-term relationship. > I offer a fairly substantial allowance. It’s hard to say without specific figures, but what you consider “not low” may still be low from a woman’s perspective. There are plenty of allowances that seem reasonable to the man offering them but are low in the woman’s eyes. I don’t think you should simply assume that your allowance is sufficient. > I always make sure to be considerate. That’s actually quite difficult, and I think only a small number of people can truly manage it. You may want to take an honest second look at your behavior. > They stop responding and disappear after three to five dates. If you’re really offering a substantial allowance—at least ¥100,000 per meeting—and you’re always considerate, then I get the impression that you may be the kind of person who doesn’t use protection or whose personality changes during an adult relationship. We receive quite a few reports about people who suddenly change once they get to the hotel. The comments often say things like, “He was a nice person during dinner, but…” If that sounds like you, I don’t think your relationships will last unless you address that behavior.

I’m columnist Fuu. There’s not much information to go on, so this is just my guess. If you’ve met five times on a pay-per-meeting basis once a month, that means it lasted five months. In that case, I wouldn’t call it a short-term arrangement. If you keep making offers a few more times, you may find someone who stays with you for a year or more. A few other things to keep in mind: - Have you confirmed how often she can meet, and are you also taking her preferences into account when planning dates? - If she wants something long-term, are you meeting her in a way that allows her to receive a stable allowance? - As the number of meetings increases, are you cutting back on the quality of the restaurants or rooms? - During intimacy, are you forcing her to do anything she dislikes? - Are you holding hands or going on dates in places where you’ll attract attention? - Are you paying attention to your hygiene, smell, body hair, dirt, and overall appearance? - Are you contacting her too often, or making the gaps between dates too short or too long? - Do you understand her wishes and requests, and try to fulfill them? I’m not attractive or popular myself, so I’ve managed to keep things going by observing my partners very carefully, with all my senses on high alert. Let’s both do our best!

I’m a male member who keeps losing. How’s your personal grooming? Do you go to the dentist? Do you shave your underarms? Hands can be a source of unpleasant odors. Are your dates going on too long? Are you giving fish kisses? Are you keeping an appropriate distance? Try brainstorming at least 100 possible checkpoints, check every one, and work on improving them. My guess is that you’re probably losing before you even step onto the battlefield.

I’m Kazu, a male member. I think the reason things don’t last with women is that the balance between the allowance and the stress isn’t right. If this only happened with one or two women, it could just be coincidence. But if it keeps happening, then even though you may feel you’re being considerate, the women you meet probably don’t see it that way. When you talk about a long-term arrangement, other factors come into play and it can sound like a serious commitment. But generally speaking, women also probably feel more at ease seeing a man with whom the allowance and stress are well balanced than constantly meeting new men.
