When I think of professions that require height, fashion models come to mind. I looked up the height requirements for models and found that, for fashion shows in Japan, around 170 cm is considered the standard.
However, it also says that if you want to work as a model overseas, you need to be at least 175 cm tall. For major international fashion shows like Paris Fashion Week, even 175 cm is considered the minimum.
With that in mind, since we’re in Japan, I would say that 170 cm or taller is considered tall, while by international standards, a woman would probably be considered tall at 175 cm or above.
> Which is more popular: shorter, average-height, or taller women?
Since I think many people hesitate to approach someone taller than themselves, taller women may be at a slight disadvantage.
As for popularity, some people prefer tall women with great figures, while others find shorter women cute, so I don’t think one height category is clearly more popular than the others.

Sorry if this is just my personal impression, but I’d say 178 cm or taller for men, and 162 cm or taller for women.
Since I’m 156 cm, anyone I have to look up to feels tall to me (汗)

Personally, I consider someone tall if they’re 185 cm or taller for men, and 170 cm or taller for women. I’m sure opinions vary from person to person.
I think taller men tend to be more popular, while women with average heights are generally more popular.
