That sounds awful.
There’s really nothing to gain from lying.
I don’t think someone looking for a long-term relationship would do something like that.

I’ll answer too, as Maezawa from the CEO’s office.
How exactly is making an offer with a humble comment related to the allowance being on the high side? I assume the allowance is just an example, but even so, bringing it up here makes it sound like the questioner’s allowance was simply too low.
It seems like you’re trying to justify yourself by blaming the other person, even though your offer was below what you actually wanted to pay.
If you can’t afford the woman’s requested amount, just accept that it wasn’t meant to be.
If you really wanted to pursue the relationship, you could simply have offered the amount she asked for. I don’t see what the allowance has to do with making a humble comment.
If you’re confident in the allowance you offer, then accept that it wasn’t meant to be if your terms don’t match. If you can’t accept that, become the kind of man who can offer what she wants.
Blaming the other person is just too petty.

Most people probably keep a low profile during interviews. I suppose she was putting on an act—or at least hiding her true colors.
In general, I feel that people who can behave humbly tend to have genuine confidence backing them up.

I think it’s probably best to look at it that way. Though it may also depend on the man who shows up in front of you... lol
A relationship is a balancing act. It has to be something that balances out.
I’d like to approach allowance negotiations with confidence, too.
