I’m Fuu, a column writer. The system lets you search by major cities and towns, but I don’t use the more detailed search options. That’s because most of the PJ girls registered in Tokyo, Yokohama, Chiba, or the Chiba branch come to—or can make it to—Tokyo for their dates. So I usually search through the registrations at those branches.

I’m a male member, Paper Airplane. Men also search within a limited nearby area—such as Yokohama or Kawasaki, within about 30 minutes—so I think it’s better to list the area where you actually live as your place of residence.

I’m Kazu, a male member. Men can search for women by prefecture, or narrow it down further by area—for example, within or outside Tokyo’s 23 wards. Women are registered based on the residence they report, regardless of which branch they signed up at. For example, even if a woman interviews at the Tokyo branch, if she lives in Sendai, she should be registered with the Sendai branch. It may be possible to register in a different area by reporting a false address. However, there’s a risk that discrepancies during actual dates—such as the last train time or taxi fare—could lead the man to complain to the club. The club may then lower the woman’s rating for providing false information. False declarations can result in complaints or refund requests from men, so my impression is that clubs take them fairly seriously. Apparently, some women from Kanagawa go all the way to the Tokyo branch for their interview, thinking they’ll get more offers by registering in Tokyo rather than Kanagawa. In the end, though, they’re registered with the Yokohama branch anyway. And because the staff member who conducted the interview may not recommend them to local male members—in this case, men in Kanagawa—it can actually backfire. I’ve seen an actual example of this happening. If you want to register in a neighboring area to help protect your identity, the staff may be able to accommodate you if you ask. In that case, I think it’s best to explain the situation and consult with them.
