This is just my guess, but I imagine the male members are financially well-off and can buy pretty much whatever they want. So basically, I don’t think their families would get suspicious no matter what they bought. (They’re probably the kind of people who can come up with any excuse.) Personally, I like small gifts, such as a few homemade cookies that he brings occasionally on a date and says, “Eat them while you’re traveling, then throw away the rest.” It makes me feel, “He took time out of his day just for me.” It would be even better if you added that the rest were eaten by your family or something as a follow-up. As for gifts that aren’t too expensive, perhaps a business card holder or cufflinks? You can never have too many business card holders. A gift of a meal, though… I didn’t really need that. I spent the entire two hours thinking, “I could have paid for this myself…” lol It depends on the person, so I think the best thing is for you to observe him carefully and decide for yourself.
