I’m Joe, a column writer. Like you, I also enjoy the company of women who appreciate a good drink. It’s true that quite a few bartenders and people in the alcohol industry can’t hold their liquor. My grandfather was the same way. That said, he had an excellent palate for tasting. When it comes to tasting, being a heavy drinker is actually a disadvantage—you end up drinking it all（笑）. In my case, there was one woman I met through Universe who enjoyed all kinds of alcohol, not just whiskey. Going bar-hopping with her was genuinely fun. Unfortunately—or perhaps I should say regrettably?—we’re no longer in touch, and she has also left Universe. Since many of the women registered with Universe are quite young, I imagine that even those who like alcohol often haven’t yet learned much about its depth and complexity. I hope you find someone who can take the time to savor and appreciate those flavors with you. P.S. Papuwa, in my opinion, some whiskeys really come into their own when you add a little soda—essentially, when you make a highball. That said, I feel that the widely popular “Kaku Highball” actually takes away from what makes Kaku good. I think Kaku tastes best straight, or with just a small amount of water added. Give it a try if you get the chance!
