I found the Instagram accounts of some Black-tier women here, and I was blown away. Their estimated incomes seem to be four or five times mine. How do they handle their taxes?

I’m Saito, the columnist♪. I know an AV actress who evaded taxes on more than 200 million yen—but she’s the only one I know of. I don’t think anyone is paying taxes on their papa-katsu income. (If the tax office ever cleaned everything out, the numbers would probably be enormous… lol.) In reality, many of them have daytime jobs and pay taxes there, while others use their savvy to set up companies and classify things as business expenses. I think the general trend is to keep things in a very gray area. Also, regardless of whether that woman’s Instagram qualifies, there are people earning money through social media without belonging to any agency. I know one woman I met who earned 30 million yen. She was a completely unknown model and commercial talent. (That said, her income seems to have declined once she reached her early thirties.) I’m sorry if you happen to work for the tax office, but if you think of that woman as a temple priest, it doesn’t seem so strange. She’s practically a mass of worldly desires. Leaf, As for the “black” side, it’s mostly ordinary women, and there aren’t many celebrities. Even when there are, they’re usually obscure enough that you’ll only find them after searching pretty hard.
