Thank you for your question.
I’m Kida, the company representative, and I’ll answer it.
This was such a juicy question that I couldn’t help grinning as I answered.
When asked which companies I used as references for management, I find myself wondering:
“Wait, have I actually been managing a company? What even is management?”
I can’t make any sense of the financial statements, and I’ve left all cash-flow management entirely to accounting.
So, to be honest, I haven’t really done enough to call it “management.” Instead, I’ll answer from the perspective of where I get my ideas.
- Zappos → core values and the Customer Loyalty Team
- Amazon → economies of scale
- Peter Drucker → management
You didn’t ask, but I’d also like to mention the companies that gave me experiences I’ve been able to apply to our current operations:
- My former company (general affairs, PR, call center, and agency sales)
- The president of my former company
- Fukui Social Insurance and Labor Consultant Office (business management reports)
Looking back, I may indeed have incorporated many elements of Don Quijote’s approach to store design, just as you said. Of course, we’re nowhere near as impressive as that company.
I’m also always inspired, as companies in a similar industry, by these two websites:
- Seeking Arrangement
- SugarDaddy.jp
I’ve also received plenty of inspiration from within the company itself. And the manga Salaryman Kintaro has given me courage as well.
Even now, I still don’t think I’m capable of running a high-end establishment. That attitude is reflected in the way we operate, and I’m sure many of our employees are dissatisfied with it.
Still, I want to start by doing what we can.
