I have a question for both male and female members! Have you ever had a man cancel on you at the last minute after you’d already agreed on a specific date? Or have you ever done that yourself? I’d like to hear what the situation was, why it happened, and whether anyone has had a trip or similar plans canceled at the last minute too... Honestly, if you’re going to cancel at the last minute, I feel like you shouldn’t make the plans in the first place.

I’m だて◎ゆめ, a male member. I’ve never canceled at the last minute, and I’ve never had a partner do so either. That said, I think there will always be times when someone has no choice but to cancel because of work or other circumstances. I believe work has to take priority over dating when necessary. Even if you do have to cancel at the last minute, how you handle things afterward is important. I think it’s fine to continue as long as you understand that.

I’m a male member named Seattle. I’ve had to cancel at the last minute once because my car broke down and once because I caught a cold. Since it was my fault, I gave her two meetings’ worth of allowance the next time we met.

I’m Saito, a column writer♪. I agree with Basil—it’s unpleasant. In my case, if I have to cancel at the last minute, I make it up by paying extra next time. Sometimes I’ll even meet for just five minutes on the day, hand over the allowance, and then take care of whatever else I need to do. Basically, I don’t do things to others that I wouldn’t want done to me. That said, incidents do happen that inevitably affect the relationship going forward. I’ve heard that some members keep making excuses like being in an accident or having a relative pass away, but this isn’t that kind of situation.

I’m Basil, a male member. I do occasionally have to cancel at the last minute because of work or other commitments. Please understand that seeing women from the club isn’t my entire life. In fact, being told, “If you’re going to cancel at the last minute, you shouldn’t have made plans in the first place,” makes me uncomfortable—it sounds like I’m expected to make this arrangement with you my top priority.
