[Answer from an outsider] “In what ways do you consider it different from the adult entertainment industry?”

I’m a man. For me, there are mainly two differences. First and foremost, you can “carefully choose the other person in advance.” That’s generally difficult in the adult entertainment industry. I’m not popular with women, yet I’m quite particular about my preferences, so dating is the only option for me, even if it costs more. I want to choose someone with odds of about one in several thousand—or even tens of thousands. Second, you can “design the relationship freely.” Or at least, you’re allowed that possibility. I’m not capable enough to make much use of that freedom, though. I suppose you could put it like this: the adult entertainment industry is “prêt-à-porter,” while dating is “haute couture.” (And in reality, when you make an offer to one woman through dating and meet once or twice to get to know each other, it ends up costing about as much as having a reasonably nice made-to-measure suit tailored.)
