I guess what I mean is this: I have the impression that relationships formed through papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) tend to last a long time. So if I were going to be with someone for another five to ten years at my current age, I’d rather have started seeing him five years ago and stayed together for ten to fifteen years… By then, there would clearly be more emotional attachment, and I feel like we’d understand each other much more deeply in all kinds of ways. I also feel like we’d be more likely to stay together even longer. Was it Ken Shimura who said something like this? Even if you raise someone when they’re young, they leave when they’re at their most appealing, then come back once nobody else is interested in them anymore… That’s kind of how I see it.
