In the case of Universe Club, the men’s listed ages may not match their actual ages. To begin with, the information shown to women is usually vague, along the lines of “This is a gentleman in his 50s.” Most men are listed as younger than their actual age, and there are broadly two reasons for this. The first is that they were in their 50s when they joined—for example, 59 years old—but had turned 70 by 11 years later. Since the club doesn’t calculate their age from their date of birth, if their introduction was written as “a gentleman in his 50s” when they joined, it may still say “in his 50s” 11 years later, even though he’s actually 70. Another reason is that many men worry about being rejected because of their age. They may have been turned down for that reason on dating apps or elsewhere, so I can understand how they feel. As a result, some may ask to be shown as being in their 50s even if they’re 70, which is the second reason. There are also women who set their preferences to men up to their 50s. I’m sorry to the women who feel frustrated about not being able to meet the men they want, but even so, I sometimes feel that people should meet first and then decide. You’re still free to turn someone down at the C stage, and sometimes you may find that he’s perfectly fine once you meet him. So I wish people wouldn’t reject someone based on age alone, and I can also understand why men falsify their age as a countermeasure. However, I’ve heard that PATOLO displays men’s actual ages, calculated from their dates of birth, just as it does for women. (I asked someone in charge at PATOLO, so I believe that’s correct—but if it isn’t, I’ll be demanding an apology.) Also, most male members of Universe Club apparently have PATOLO accounts as well. So if you receive an offer through Universe, you can search for the man on PATOLO and find out his real age. You can then decide whether to decline the offer, and you may also discover whether the man has misrepresented his age.

You can’t alter your age on Universe Club or PATOLO, so the age shown is accurate. If he says he’s younger than what’s listed, just listen without calling him out. Since it’s clearly a pointless lie, take it as a chance to see what kind of person he is and move on positively!

My profile is more accurate, so please forgive me if there’s a slight discrepancy. Just take it as, “He still thinks he’s young, haha,” or, “What a cute old man, haha,” and leave it at that. I’m 70, but I feel 20 at heart, haha.

Neither Universe Club nor PATOLO lets members enter their age manually, so I assume it’s automatically calculated from the ID submitted when joining. Maybe he told you he was younger than his actual age? The age listed on his profile should be accurate.

People of any gender generally don’t like talking about their age, so it’s probably not something you need to worry about too much. Even now that our children are grown, none of them knows their mother’s age. She apparently doesn’t want anyone to know—maybe because people think she looks young? So I’ve never told our children, relatives, or anyone else we meet. I don’t mind when people say my wife looks young either… even though we were born the same year.

At Universe Club, a man’s exact age isn’t shown on his profile. His age bracket may be displayed, but I believe it’s based on the date of birth on his ID. I think Patro showed members’ ages, but I had my ID verified from the start, so I don’t know whether there’s any way around that for people who haven’t.
