It really depends on the model, so it’s hard to say definitively.
Generally speaking, people would say Hermès. But comparing, for example, the Garden Party, which was popular a long time ago, with Louis Vuitton’s Capucines, which the brand is currently focusing on, the Capucines is by far the cuter option and also has a higher resale value.
If you’re talking about a Birkin, though, I think it has unmatched value and can be considered an investment. And yes, it is cute in its own way.
One of Louis Vuitton’s advantages is that, unlike with Hermès, you can check the entire inventory online immediately and buy something right away without having to become a “client” and spend years building a purchase history. That’s why even people who have only recently become wealthy can buy their products freely, and why it seems like so many people own them.
Beyond that, I think it just comes down to personal preference.

Everyone has different tastes.
Personally, I think one Louis Vuitton item is enough. If someone has two or more, I tend to think they lack style. The other day in Shinagawa, I saw an older man carrying two Louis Vuitton bags with three pouches attached to his belt. All I could think was that he’d recently started making good money and was excited about it.
I also think the overly colorful designs with huge logos these days make people look rather unintelligent.
In that respect, I think Hermès has much more class.
Personally, I can’t believe I ever spent that much on a bag made of coated canvas, though I did buy a Taiga bag myself in my twenties.
Fashion is a form of self-expression, so I think you should buy whatever you like. It’s not really something you need to ask other people about.
