Am I the only one who finds it kind of creepy when a man in his 50s does papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) with a student? It’s not just that they’re more than a generation apart—it just feels gross somehow.

You find it gross, yet you’re still a female member? If it makes you feel uncomfortable, I think you should quit. Wouldn’t it be better to stop this altogether?

I think that’s pretty normal. I was surprised myself when I met a woman who was more than 40 years younger than me. From what she told me, hostess clubs and other nightlife jobs are relatively easy ways for women to make money. Apparently, women in their 40s also go to places like hostess clubs, and she said that when it came to meeting me, there wasn’t much difference between men in their 40s and men in their 60s. I suppose she may have been used to adult relationships... That said, she was very assertive at the beginning of our relationship, so maybe she actually found me creepy. She also said that, among younger women, older men can feel safer than younger men because they’re less likely to disappear after getting what they want. Overall, maybe it’s something like: “He’s creepy, but he’s less risky than a younger man, so I guess he’s okay?”

It’s perfectly normal to feel that way, and there are also quite a few girls who don’t see it that way. Even a roughly 30-year age gap can occasionally lead to a normal relationship outside the club.
