If they enter into an adult relationship (intimate) and, for example, see each other for three years, wouldn’t the man naturally develop feelings for the woman? Or does he still view it strictly as papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan)?

The woman I’ve been seeing for five years is completely emotionally detached, lol. There’s no room for feelings to develop. She’s beautiful, has a great figure, and the intimate side is good. Plus, she’s tight, so I can’t stop. Maybe it’s lasted this long because no strange feelings ever get involved.

I don’t know which came first, the chicken or the egg, but the fact that it’s lasted three years means there’s some kind of connection between you. It may not necessarily be affection, but I do think it’s a relationship worth cherishing.

I’m a former female member. To all the respondents, It’s been a while♡ It’s been four years since I started seeing my papa, who took me on through the club. I’m in my 40s. We’ve been through plenty of ups and downs, and after overcoming several crises, here we are today. We don’t get to see each other often in a month, but the number of times has increased. Every day, I tell him things like, “I love you! I can’t wait to see you again!” and express my gratitude in one way or another. Even now, I still want to spend more time with him and love him so much that I sometimes end up crying when we say goodbye after a date. I’d be devastated if he thought I hadn’t developed real feelings for him! P.S. Date Yume, I always love your gentle, thoughtful answers☆ Thank you. (I’ll quietly stop by from time to time.)

As the relationship continues over time, it may naturally develop from papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) into something more intimate—and I feel that happens fairly often. That said, once you become a couple, it may not be so easy to break things off, and the breakup itself can lead to trouble. I believe the allowance exists to prevent that from happening to either person. So if you’ve gone on even one date without an allowance during the relationship, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say you’re no longer doing papa-katsu—you’re a couple. That said, some men may be acting slyly and simply looking to find a casual partner they can spend time with for free, so I think women need to be careful. Maybe it’s best to make it clear with something like, “No allowance means we’re becoming something special from today, right? *Sparkle!*” With that in mind, men shouldn’t casually enter into an arrangement without an allowance. And once they’ve done so even once, I’d like them to take proper responsibility.

Everything is an experience. You’ll understand once you’ve been dating for three years. Oh! As for me? I’ve been seeing a certain woman for five years now. She’s gone from a scruffy young girl to a lovely lady, and I’ve gone from a lousy old geezer to a good-looking guy(笑) P.S. Oh, meg, long time no see! And I’m glad to hear you’re doing well(笑) I see! So you’ve still been seeing him all this time, secretly. Well, that papa is just as foolish as Date(笑) Take good care of yourself and stay well! Come visit us sometime(笑)

You may develop feelings, but only within the context of papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan). I believe an adult relationship (intimate) means maintaining a healthy amount of distance while seeing each other.

I think it depends on the kind of relationship you have. In a relationship that gradually builds over time, you slowly become closer, stop feeling the need to be on guard, and are able to be honest with each other. As you argue, make up, and create more memories together, you naturally develop feelings. The longer you’re together, the more irreplaceable the relationship becomes. But if it’s the kind of relationship where you simply repeat the same routine, things are quite different. The more you see each other, the more efficient it becomes, and you gradually refine the arrangement so that both of you can meet with minimal stress by adjusting for the things you dislike. There’s familiarity and a sense of security, but no real attachment. It’s more like a smartphone you’re used to using. It’s fine to just let things develop naturally, but it can lead to unhappiness if there’s a difference in how strongly each person feels. So I think it’s important to figure out which direction your relationship is heading, communicate accordingly, and make sure you’re more or less on the same page. Taro
