It’s hard to understand because you haven’t explained how “his expression clouded over” was connected to “he got angry” in the first place.
Was he really angry? Until that’s clear, there’s no way to know. And if he was angry, you’d need to ask what upset him.
Even if it happened while he was happily talking about Men’s Johnny’s, his expression may not have changed because of the topic itself. It could have been something specific that was said at the time.
So, since I wasn’t there and haven’t been told the exact words, I think it would be difficult even to speculate.

For someone who has no interest in idols or celebrities, it’s completely irrelevant and boring as hell.
Counting the moles on my own body sounds more fun.

I can’t know how someone else feels, but they probably felt the same way you did when your papa (a male supporter) went on and on about his favorite idol.
In other words, they may have found it painful to be made to listen endlessly to something they weren’t interested in—even though they were paying you an allowance.
People with such poor social awareness that they can’t pick up on things like that probably aren’t suited to papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan).
How do you even manage to work as a hostess in Ginza? Also, you have to be 20 or older to drink alcohol.
