Lately, I’ve been hearing the term “married people’s mixers” a lot. In terms of the basic goal of finding a partner, I feel they have some similarities to dating clubs. Are there many people at Universe who have experience with married people’s mixers? And is a club that can reliably help you find a partner ultimately better in terms of the service? I’d appreciate hearing your opinions.

No way! Don’t people get arrested for going to mixers for married people? Don’t do it!

I’ve hosted and MC’d coupling parties, so before that I was regularly organizing group dates with around 30 men and women every week. Some of the people who met through them ended up getting married, but since everyone had gathered through my connections and the network kept expanding from there, I couldn’t make a move on anyone and had to remain strictly the organizer. Writing this, I’m realizing that wanting to see people happy probably carries over into both my current work and papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan). I guess I simply enjoy seeing people happy, even when there’s nothing in it for me. Even though I don’t drink a drop myself, I’ll still wholeheartedly keep a woman company for hours as she drinks her way around town on the very first day we meet… When I see how happy she looks, I end up saying, “Let’s go to one more place.” Would I want to attend that kind of group date for married people? Having to look for someone my own age at this point? I honestly can’t really imagine it. With a club, you can meet women 30 years younger without having to wait. And if you don’t like the idea of fast-tracking things, you can always wander around until you find somewhere to fish for someone one-on-one…

At a group date, you have to be considerate of the other men and women there as well. I see it as a team effort. You also can’t choose who you’ll meet. So I think they’re completely different things. I dislike group dates because you have to worry about everyone else. Even when my subordinates invite me, I have to entertain not only the women but my own subordinates too, which is exhausting. I’ve only gone along twice.

In the case of mixers for married people, there’s no allowance to sweeten the deal, so you’ll probably need a certain level of looks or social skills. The participants will mostly be around the same age.
