I also put my account on hold as soon as I found a regular partner. I wasn’t comfortable leaving my profile public for too long. It wasn’t immediate, though—I waited about two weeks to a month.

I imagine there are quite a few people of both genders like that.
But I also get the feeling there are members like me who don’t make any offers and simply remain registered.
In my case, there’s an age gap of over 40 years, so I always assumed it wouldn’t be surprising if I were turned down at any time. I’ve just kept my membership active for now, but somehow it’s dragged on with no sign of ending.
What could she possibly like about this wrinkled, gray-haired head of mine? After three years, when she says, “Once the time comes, I’ll leave the nest, so I’d like you to support me a little longer,” well… I can’t exactly say no.
In the meantime, I’ve been carefully thinking about who I might meet next, and I currently have seven favorites.
I’m not a spy or an undercover agent, but I just wanted to say that there are male members like me, too.
The people at the club would probably say, “Someone like you doesn’t belong in a dating club! You’re supposed to make offers!” (笑)
Still, I don’t think I’m the only one who feels that, from the women’s perspective, being able to have a long-term relationship would reflect well on the club.

Men do it too.
There was one man who quit just a few days after joining.
(He hadn’t even made an offer, of course.)
I told him, “Unfortunately, we can’t refund the membership fee…”
But he said something like, “It was my decision to leave, and you explained that upfront, so it’s fine.”
Apparently, he had joined because his long-term girlfriend—the relationship involved money—was going to marry another man, and he wanted to find a new girlfriend through Universe. But when he told her that, they got back together.
I suspect she was making a bold move, but since he backed down so easily, she decided to return to the relationship after all.
She wasn’t a Universe member, so there was no way to ask her, and I never found out the truth.

I once saw a woman who was introduced to me before her profile went public, but she had already withdrawn by that evening.
So I suppose there are women who register and then withdraw before their profile is made public—or within just a few hours of the first day.
Some decide, “Actually, I can’t do this after all,” before doing anything or even receiving an offer.
I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing that there are people like that who aren’t used to papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan).

I can’t speak for men, but there are quite a few women like that.
Some register, meet a man in person, realize it’s not for them, and quit. Others quickly find someone and leave because that’s all they need.
Some even suspend their accounts right away because they’re overwhelmed by the flood of offers.

There probably are.
For men, since there’s an annual membership fee, it could be due to illness, a job transfer, or something like that.
For women:
- They have a bad experience with one of their first papas
- They find a good papa early on
- They get flooded with offers, find several papas quickly, and leave
That’s just my guess, though. Something along those lines, maybe?

There probably are women who do. Either they found someone really great, or they turned out to be secretly Type A and got scared.
Men have to pay an annual membership fee, so I imagine they stick with it for at least a year.

Yep, that was me.
There could be all sorts of reasons, but I’m sure they’re out there.
