Is having light brown hair in your mid-30s considered embarrassing? Should I tone it down, even if I don’t go all the way to black? Whenever I darken it, I feel like I look older, maybe because I’m not used to it.
Do men generally prefer black hair after all?
In my early 20s, I had light brown permed hair, but as I got older, I switched to a natural brown with a sleek, straight style. I think everyone has hairstyles and hair colors that suit them, so it’s a good idea to find a trustworthy salon first and ask for their advice. :)

I keep mine black.
My younger sister wears a dark brown because she thinks black makes her look too childish ('･_･`)
We both have baby faces, though…
I think hairstyles that frame your face well and suit your usual clothes and personality can vary from person to person, so it’s hard to give a one-size-fits-all answer (*^^*)

It comes across as rather painful to look at.
She doesn’t seem to have a job, and she also gives the impression of being rather shallow.
Personally, I think bright brown hair can be dismissed as youthful indiscretion only up to the early twenties.

I’m not sure how bright you mean, but if you’re working, it may be difficult to go with a particularly unconventional hair color.
I haven’t dyed my hair in years, so it’s basically my natural color. Since my hair was originally brown, though, it isn’t black.
If it suits you, I think a slightly lighter shade would be fine. But if you’re thinking about what men tend to like, I’d probably go with a darker brown.
I’m 36 myself, and anything too bright wouldn’t really work for me, either professionally or personally.
