Most of the opinions have already been covered, but choosing a family restaurant for the first meeting is a difficult move and offers almost no real benefit for the relationship going forward, in my opinion. There are girls I continue seeing who ask to go on a normal date, and I’ll go along with it, but I generally don’t suggest it myself. I’ll go to family restaurants alone, of course, but since this is papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan), I feel there should be at least some sense of occasion—not necessarily somewhere luxurious. Honestly, I also do it because I want to look good. Maybe the allowance plays a part in that too, but so far, I don’t think anyone has been unhappy about it.

I don’t think a family restaurant is appropriate for a first date arranged through Universe. There’s nothing in the rules that explicitly prohibits it, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. Going to a family restaurant will likely increase the chances of receiving a poor rating from the woman. Besides, the fact that you’re asking suggests you already feel that a family restaurant might be inappropriate, but want to try it anyway just to see whether everyone really objects, right? If that’s not the case, wouldn’t you be asking, “What kind of restaurant should I choose for a first date?” Or are you trying to find the line just before getting banned? Do you want to collect bad ratings? If you’re simply trying to save as much money as possible, papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) probably isn’t for you. You’d be better off going to an adult entertainment establishment where you don’t have to go out for a meal.

It doesn’t have to be anywhere particularly expensive, but I think it’s best to avoid family restaurants for the first meeting. The reason is that you can’t exactly speak loudly about things like your thoughts on the allowance or an adult relationship (intimate). From the second meeting onward, Saizeriya is totally fine (⑅•ᴗ•⑅)◜..°♡

A woman in her late teens I used to see told me that she preferred junk food, like McDonald’s, to upscale restaurants. But if I’d taken her to a family restaurant for the first meeting, even someone like her might have thought I was being cheap.

A woman wouldn’t suggest a family restaurant for a first date, would she? Fast food, maybe—but you can get takeout there too.

If you think you can discuss papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) and the terms of an adult relationship (intimate) while sitting next to: - a group of students, - a gathering of delinquents, or - a ladies’ get-together, then go ahead.

If he’s young and good-looking, then sure. A lot of women would be happy with McDonald’s or a casual family restaurant if they were with BTS’s Jungkook. That may be an extreme example, but that’s essentially the point.

You greet each other with “Nice to meet you,” start chatting, and then go on to discuss the allowance, what kind of relationship you’re looking for, and so on. I agree with Mac. It’s not a matter of going to a family restaurant but offering a generous allowance. Marika Mac says it makes the people around them uncomfortable, but I’d be embarrassed to see a woman having that kind of conversation in a place like that. A much older man and a young, stylish, beautiful woman saying “Nice to meet you” to each other in a family restaurant—it’s a horrifying sight.

It’s pretty clear that all you’re thinking about is getting intimate… but are you really that short on money? If so, why not quit papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan)? Family restaurants are only acceptable to women after you’ve met a few times and gotten to know each other. Why not just call a delivery escort service?

I sometimes choose a family restaurant for the first meeting. I’ve had extensive training and polished my escort skills, so I’ve never had a problem—or been turned down. That said, most people are better off avoiding it. I specifically choose a family restaurant because I have a clear reason: I intentionally lower the woman’s motivation as much as possible at first, then enjoy seeing the change afterward. Unless you’re extremely confident, you’re better off avoiding it. On a related note, I’d avoid high-end restaurants too. I’ve probably never chosen one for a first date. I’d say around ¥7,000–¥8,000 per person at most.

If you don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, then go to a family restaurant. If you have the courage—and the confidence in yourself!! Men may feel this way too, but women look forward to meeting a man even more, getting dressed up and making themselves look their best for the occasion. I think first impressions are very important, so even if you’re a wonderful person, isn’t it a waste to have her think, “I went to all the trouble of dressing up, and this is just a family restaurant?” Women put effort into looking nice because they want men to give them an experience they wouldn’t normally have. But if you still want to go to a family restaurant, go ahead.

This is probably a question that’s been asked countless times. I think you’re better off not doing it.

If you’re expecting things to go beyond dinner, then no, that won’t work.
