I don’t think there are that many men here—even among the people answering questions—who offer 100,000 yen on a pay-per-meeting basis…
And yet, after receiving that much, they still want expensive gifts too…
They say human desire knows no bounds, and they’re right.

I think it’s because they want women to be humble and demure. It may sound contradictory, but when a woman knows how to make a modest request, it probably makes them want to give her an expensive gift. Of course, some people may have a firm rule never to give anything worth more than a certain amount, no matter what.

¥100,000 per pay-per-meeting arrangement is incredible. I pay only half that, at most.
I’ve never had anyone pressure me for gifts, either. I’m contrarian by nature, so if she asks me for something, I definitely won’t buy it for her. On the other hand, if I think it’s something she genuinely needs, I’ll give it to her regardless of the occasion.

Perhaps it’s because Japanese people tend to dislike pushiness, and humility and modesty are considered virtues in Japan. Not everyone feels this way, of course, but I think many people do.
