Apparently SKYN has a good reputation among women, so why not go with that? From the man’s perspective, I think it depends on the partner. If she’s the type who grips noticeably, like with her sphincter muscles, SKYN is perfectly fine. But if she’s the type who grips through internal negative pressure, the pressure tends to be milder, so it’s more about sensation—and thinner is better.
For thinness, I’d say Okamoto 001. The downsides are that they come three to a pack with a bunch of unnecessary extras, which is annoying, and if you put one on carelessly, it can get caught and stop halfway. You have to hold it in place at about two points with your fingers and slowly work it all the way down to the base. If the woman is experienced, she may put it on with her mouth, but you shouldn’t expect that from an average woman.

There are also middle-ground options, like Sagami 002 or Okamoto 003. Love hotels have been stocking 003 pretty often lately, and after taking home the unused ones, my place is now overflowing with them. I’m pretty sure there are more of them than the stray pubic hairs you find casually scattered everywhere. That high level of availability—existing almost like air—may be one of the things that makes 003 so good.
I think with any tool, it’s better to understand the design philosophy behind it before using it. I wonder what the people who develop condoms think about in their daily lives. I’d love to have a few drinks with them and hear all about it.
