What does it mean when my papa sends me photos of hotels and places that look like he’s traveling? My LINE isn’t Twitter, lol. It wouldn’t be weird to ignore him, right?

LOL, is this a complaint? You can ignore him, or reply with something like, “My LINE isn’t Twitter, you know.” Do whatever you like. But whatever you do, don’t put on your good-girl act and reply with things like, “That’s nice” or “Wow, amazing.” He’ll get the wrong idea and keep going. Just respond in a way that won’t give your papa the wrong impression. That said, if he thinks you’re cold or bad at replying, he might get snatched up by another PJ who responds quickly and reacts more enthusiastically...

I wouldn’t send it, and since I’m not that person, I can’t really say—but generally speaking, there’s usually nothing to gain from ignoring someone. That said, if the papa (a male supporter) gets pleasure from being ignored, then ignoring him is the right call. In that case, keep doing exactly that.

Maybe he sends the same message to several people at once to see who replies fastest—a kind of audition to narrow down his priorities… Or something like that… Though I doubt that’s really the case…

If you’re not interested, just wait a few hours before replying. Keep it short and harmless, something like “That’s nice,” and don’t give them anything to build on—so don’t end with a question. After that, it’s fine to ignore them. If you respond as though you’re interested when you’re not, the other person will be pleased and keep messaging you. Some people say things like, “This is why old guys are so persistent,” but I think the person who gave the wrong impression and led them on is partly to blame. You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to. But saying so outright can come across as rude, so you should make your intentions clear indirectly, while staying polite. Getting that balance right is what being an adult is all about. Don’t just learn how to handle adult relationships—learn how to handle situations maturely, too. Taro

I think they may simply be looking for attention. Someone you don’t mind losing contact with → ignore them or just send a sticker Someone you want to keep seeing → respond with a message Something like, “Oh wow, that place looks lovely♡,” perhaps? If you’d rather not go with someone who invites you, you could say, “Good luck with your business trip♡” or “Have fun♪” Personally, I agree with Maezawa-san and Makeotoko-san. Even if there are various circumstances involved, I often find myself thinking, “You really don’t have to force yourself to do papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan),” when I read some of these questions.

It’s true that you like him reasonably well. That’s why you want some kind of reaction. The women who earn the most are the ones who know how to say exactly what their papa wants to hear in moments like that.

Only he knows what he really means by it, but… I’d like to think he’s saying, “I want to share some of the fun with you!” I’m the type who would send messages like that myself, so I’m happy when I receive them too. I don’t really understand what you find unpleasant about it… If it feels like a hassle, isn’t continuing the relationship hard for you? If you want to ignore him, then ignore him. If you don’t want to damage the relationship, I think you should just go along with it without saying anything. I hope you meet someone who makes you happy just to hear from them.

I sometimes send “on a business trip now” updates to my long-term girlfriend and my newer girlfriend, and they send me “〇〇 now” messages too. On the other hand, none of my PJ partners ever send me “now” updates—but my ace does. She’s the only one. That ace earns a substantial amount from me. That tells you everything. If you find messaging bothersome, you don’t have to do it. But I think PJ partners who make good money approach papa-katsu as a business and willingly deal with the tedious parts. You started papa-katsu to make money, right? I’ve never seen anyone succeed in business while complaining that things are a hassle. Do you really think you can make money without putting in any effort? That’s my question to you.

A similar question came up before. Even if you understood what it means, would it really change anything? And as for “Is it okay if I ignore it?”—I feel like you should just do whatever you want. If you’re going to be in a loveless relationship, I think you’d be better off breaking up. Why are you even together? If it’s for the money, then just put up with it without asking. And if you can’t, then simply break up.

They just want a little attention. If you want things to continue smoothly, all it takes is sending a brief reply. I ended things with someone who messaged me every day with long messages and tons of photos. —Marika
