I’ve met several men through Universe and other apps, and quite a few of them have said they want to do it without a condom or that they always do it raw with other women. People involved in papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) are probably intimate with other women as well, and so am I, so I’m concerned about STIs. But that’s not the only issue—going without a condom is obviously a huge psychological burden for me too. Since neither of us is an exclusive partner to the other, I believe using a condom is simply good manners. I find it extremely unpleasant when they repeatedly ask if it’s okay to do it without one. There seem to be especially many older men like that… I used to think men were lying when they said, “I’ve only ever done it raw with other girls,” but are there actually a lot of women who agree to sex without contraception?

I use condoms with every woman I meet through an exclusive dating club. At some escort agencies, women take the pill and market unprotected sex. Women with that kind of experience sometimes suggest going without a condom themselves and try to raise the price. But unless I feel exceptionally comfortable with someone, I turn them down because the risks of contracting an STI or something similar increase significantly. “I’ve only ever done it without a condom with other girls” is basically the same as a child telling their parents, “Everyone else has a game console.”

Some partners use condoms, while others don’t. I think quite a lot of women are okay with going without one. In my experience, it’s about three out of four, so I’d say that’s fairly common—and I can’t say that man’s claim is entirely untrue. Every now and then, I come across women who aren’t taking the pill but say they’re fine because he pulls out. It’s enough to make me back off. By the way, did you know that not using a condom doesn’t necessarily mean there’s no birth control involved?
