Maezawa from Shacho-shitsu here with an answer.
I think your type is simply someone you look at and think, “I like this person.” But does that mean you have to register with a matchmaking agency and tell them what your ideal type is?
Even then, you can just say, “I don’t actually know what my type is,” and then look through the men’s profile photos and choose the ones you’d like to meet first.
Unlike a dating club, it’s nice that they have a page showing photos of all the men, right? (笑) And unlike dating apps, the photos are genuine and unedited.

Your world is too narrow. Is papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) and marriage really all there is?
Why are you leaving everything up to other people? Don’t you ever think about doing something for yourself?
In your current state, you’d be better off not getting married. You’ll probably get divorced soon.
Marriage is a constant series of compromises. I found it so painful that I escaped into papa-katsu.
There are other things you can do. Think it over carefully.

There’s no need to understand.
They say the person you fall for becomes your type, right?

I’m divorced and live in Seattle.
You’re better off not getting married. It was a breeding ground for misery.
If you absolutely have to, choose someone financially capable who won’t emotionally abuse you. Better yet, someone fun.
Personally, I like chubby people with black hair. You didn’t ask, though.

I didn’t really understand it myself either, but when I dated a younger, shorter guy last year, I didn’t enjoy it at all. That’s when I realized I’m simply attracted to tall men.
So even if you don’t end up dating a lot of men, I think it’s a good idea to meet plenty of them and figure out what your type is.

Sometimes women I’ve made an offer to ask me, “What kind of girl do you like?” and I never know how to answer. I always think, “I made you an offer because you’re my type.”
Anyway, back to the topic.
I believe marriage means two people sharing life’s risks to improve their chances of making it through, and working together to have and raise children. You marry someone who can be your partner in all that.
So I think it’s best to marry someone whose values are similar to yours—or at least don’t conflict with them—and whom you’re unlikely to find irritating over time. Isn’t that the kind of person you should be looking for in a marriage partner?
