As far as I know, Tokyo didn’t use flip cards in the first place. I think they’re mainly used around Osaka.
So I don’t know the details, but rather than the number varying by person, I believe the correct answer is that it varies by staff member.
In Tokyo, the standard procedure is to have women draw a paper slip, like a lottery ticket, then read and answer the question written on it.
So the question is random, and since there are multiple branches even within Tokyo, I imagine the questions vary by location.
When I used to conduct interviews, we used a cushion-shaped die with six questions written on it. The woman would roll it, then read and answer whichever question came up.
Some of the topics included “your first time,” which could leave women at a loss for words. (笑)
Incidentally, the interview video shows the woman throwing the die, picking it up, sitting down, and answering.
You can actually get a sense of her personality from the way she goes to pick it up—or perhaps more accurately, her manners.
You can also get an idea of how sharp she is from the way she rolls the die. If I were a male member, I’d feel like I could learn a lot from that video.
Someone who throws the die with all her strength has to walk a long way to retrieve it, whereas if she gently drops it right in front of herself, she barely has to move.
Is she the type who thinks about things like that, or the spontaneous type who just throws it as hard as she can?
Even from something as simple as that, if I thought a spontaneous woman would be more fun, I’d choose the former. If I wanted to meet someone who thinks things through before acting, I’d choose the woman who drops it nearby.
That’s how I’d look at it.
By the way, that die was recently unearthed at the Shinjuku branch. (笑) When I mentioned that we used to film videos with it, the staff were like, “Really?”
I suggested that one of the female interview staff members give it a try and answer the question, so she rolled it—and, by coincidence, it landed on:
“Your first time.”
She was shocked and asked, “You really expect someone to answer this?”
I thought, “Well, you’re the one conducting the interviews.”
Even though it’s only been a few years, it feels like the times have changed dramatically. (笑)
Incidentally, it’s not that I want to hear about her first time. What matters is how she responds—the content of her answer and her mannerisms at that moment.

The content of the flip board varies from person to person. Sometimes they use something like a lottery instead of flip boards to determine which question is presented.
I don’t know whether the questions on the flip boards are predetermined like a lottery or deliberately selected. I imagine it also differs depending on the staff member and the circumstances.
Video formats come and go with trends. Recently, there seem to be a lot of videos where people choose their preferred relationship type. The questioner probably used a flip board because that format was popular at the time.
The slightly mean-spirited impression I shared in my answer to that harsh question was based on not having watched the video carefully, so it isn’t necessarily correct or applicable to everyone. Please don’t worry about it too much.
