I think I’ve fallen for a man I met through papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan). From our first meeting through our second or third, he was the one who asked to see me, but this time I invited him. Since then, I haven’t heard from him for several days apart from my thank-you message. I’m eagerly waiting for him to contact me. I keep checking my notifications over and over, only to feel disappointed. If I invite him every time, he might realize how I feel, so it’s difficult for me to contact him myself. When you meet someone you know you should keep things transactional with but can’t, how do you deal with it?

I’m Aya, a female member. Whether a man genuinely falls for a woman is largely a matter of feeling—you can’t really force it by thinking about the terms or anything like that. So when it’s not going to happen, it’s not going to happen. All you can do is meet other papas and take your mind off it. Also, once I know the other person is married, I naturally see it as a transactional relationship. I don’t want him all to myself, so even if I really like him, I don’t get completely obsessed. I think papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) works better when you keep that kind of distance.

I’m Nana Ayase ♡ If it were me, I’d take no response as a sign that we weren’t meant to connect. But why not try sending him a LINE message, just in case? If he still doesn’t respond, take it as a sign that it wasn’t meant to be and move on to the next person.

Maezawa from the CEO’s Office here, too. > I feel like he might realize how I feel if I’m always the one inviting him, so it’s hard for me to reach out first. It’s actually the opposite. Invite him as often as you like. The more you invite him, the more he’ll think something like: “She must really be short on money. I’m basically a very capable ATM, aren’t I? Well, it feels good to be relied on, so as long as I have the money, I’ll keep responding.” Also, the more often you meet, the more you’ll start to notice each other’s flaws, so I think it’s actually a good thing. You could even say something like, “I’m running short on money—would you be able to meet me?” That should work.
