So I’d suggest meeting them while thinking, “There’s a 99% chance it’s a breakup talk, but maybe there’s a 1% chance it isn’t.” I agree that having a breakup conversation face-to-face can be awkward, but perhaps he feels there’s value in communicating it properly—that is, in person.
