In the past, when a woman I was with in person said she wanted to become an answerer and applied, she was able to become one fairly quickly. So I think the number of answerers is gradually increasing.
That said, even if someone’s wish to become an answerer comes true, I think it varies from person to person whether they go on to receive lots of questions or only get one.

I think there just aren’t any applicants.
I’d love to see more people answering questions too, but it doesn’t seem to be happening, probably because so many people are passive—including questioners who ask things they could find out with a quick search.
