A guy in his 30s whom I know apparently has AIDS, yet he’s still soliciting and meeting lots of girls on Twitter every day. It’s so malicious that I suddenly started feeling anxious. I’m sure there are sugar daddies like that here too… Do HIV test results really not show up until 10 years later?

I’m Fuu, a columnist. A lot of papa (male supporters) regularly get comprehensive health checkups and STI tests. They tend to have more money than the average man, after all. We take responsibility for protecting ourselves. Please don’t lump us in with people who recruit on Twitter.

I’m Dai, a male member. What exactly are you worried about? Both that man in his 30s and the older man from the dating club understand that you can’t catch it if you don’t have sex with the questioner, right? If you’re doing papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan), then your only option is to stop doing it.

I’m Kazu, a male member. The opening part isn’t relevant to the question. The HIV window period—the time after infection when it may not yet show up on a test—is said to range from several weeks to several months. For medical matters, please consult a professional rather than asking here.
